The Minnesota Opportunities for Technical Services Excellence (MOTSE) program is modeled on MORE and is intended for all levels of staff and types of libraries. A variety of MOTSE workshops have been designed which teach the basics of cataloging to both public and technical services staff with little or no cataloging experience.
Two of the major areas taught in these sessions are Descriptive Cataloging and Access, and Subject Analysis. In these sessions participants learn more detail about cataloging in the MARC format, Library of Congress and other subject heading formats, and Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress classification schemes.MOTSE has developed their own set of competencies for Level 1 and Level 2. For more information, see the Career Renewal portion of the certification website. http://www.arrowhead.lib.mn.us/renewal/
