Patrons frequently ask for:

  1. Biographical information on the artist of a work.

  2. The value of a work.

  3. The name and background of a work.

The patron often owns the item in question or is thinking of purchasing it.

Frequently, the artist is not well known and no information can be located. Sometimes patrons also want a picture of a particular work of art. In these cases, gathering the most information you can from the reference interview will assist patrons in pursuing the question further, either through a referral or on their own.
