Experience the expansive diversity of southern Africa in geography, people, wildlife and culture. See scenes from crowded city life, safari adventures, bathing hippos, the mists of Victoria Falls, mountain heights and desert sand dunes. Mary Shideler, a popular presenter of travel presentations at the library, kicks off the library's fall program schedule sharing photos and tales of Africa with her usual heart and humor.

On February 5, 2009 Shideler and a small party of friends joined 13 others for a 17-day adventure touring Africa. From Johannesburg, South Africa they flew to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, took a bus tour to Chobe National Park in Botswana, went to Namibia, visited the Namib Desert, Cape Town, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. Mary captured scenes of people and the environment on over 5,000 slides---She promises not to share all of them!
